Salt isn't such a big deal as long as the cat (or human) is otherwise healthy.
The idea that salt causes high blood pressure is but a myth. It can make high blood pressure and heart problems worse but it isn't the cause.
If you (or your cat) don't have any health issues like high blood...
Nah! It's just junk food! It'll just make him fat if he keeps eating it.
If it was really greasy, it might make him get the squirts. He might puke. That's it.
Hopefully, next time he wants to eat some greasy junk food, he'll remember what happened, last time, and think twice about it. ;)...
Hey, it works with toddlers! We thought it would work with cats, too!
You know, give each kid the exact, same toy or, maybe, similar toys that are different colors. Right?
We thought it was a grand idea!
NOT! :headshake:
We ended up with three of the exact, same toy, too.
Casper had it first. Then, Elliot came along so and he liked to play with it. That made Casper jealous so we bought two more, one for each cat, thinking they'd have "yours," "mine" and "ours" but that didn't work. Elliot plays with all...
If they tussle like that and don't try to attack each other, even through a gate, they probably aren't going to fight. Eating together is also a good sign.
Our cats don't share toys well. I suspect it's a scent issue. When a cat plays with a toy, it's scent gets transferred. The cat...
When Elliot first started coming around, he would eat a whole can of cat food, by himself, in about five minutes if we let him.
Now that he's indoors with a secure food source, he doesn't do that so much but I'm sure he still might if he had the chance.
He still makes "Om-nom-nom" noises when...
Elliot did the same. His first day home was after returning from the vet when he got him snipped. He didn't eat a lot the first day because he was still recovering from anesthesia but, the next day, he was like a furry, little garbage disposal!
We slowed him down for a couple of days...
It probably won't be an issue for you but it's worth keeping in mind... There is something called "refeding syndrome."
When an animal doesn't eat for a long time then starts eating big meals, the sudden intake of food can cause digestive and metabolic problems. It is rather rare and it...
In a slice-for-cup comparison with coffee, the amount of caffeine in a slice of matcha cake is equal to about a half of a cup of coffee. That would be about 50 mg. in a slice of cake and about 100 mg. in a slice of coffee.
The lethal dose (LD50) for caffeine in cats is around 100 mg./kg. A...
You don't always need the cone, despite vet's instructions, if the cat doesn't bother his incision.
He might lick it a little bit. Cats normally clean themselves, back there. He had surgery so it's normal for a cat to give extra attention to the area.
If he's biting or pulling at the...
That sounds like our Elliot to a tee! If he sees anybody paying attention to our other cat, Casper, he MUST come over and butt in. It's like he's saying, "Hey! There's attention going on and I'm not part of it!" In fact, Elliot does it even if it's just me and Casper's Girl-Human paying...
Many times, I think doctors just give generalized instructions.
Years ago, I went to a doctor and he wanted to prescribe a certain medication. He told me that I needed to take a blood test for kidney and liver function before I could take it. I agreed to get the blood test done but I said...
Vet's instructions are all well and good but, sometimes, you've got to feed what a cat will eat.
It's going on three days since she was at the vet. Right?
I think that's plenty of time for her mouth to start healing enough that she can eat.
If she likes to eat soup, like you say, I'd feed her...
She's a tabby cat. (My favorite kind of cat! :) )
Tabbies come in several different variations: Striped, swirled, spotted and ticked.
I'd say she's a mix. I see a little bit of everything. Most tabbies have spots on their bellies even if they aren't the spotted variety.
Her paws and ears...
