Thank God- Friskies and Meow Mix are still safe. My black cat won’t eat ANYTHING but Meow Mix, and my tuxedo has to have Friskies. My grey cat will eat anything

“Nestlé did not test either the pre-mix or the finished pet food to ensure that the Vitamin D level was correct.”

Honestly so glad I ignored my vet on this one thing and switched to homemade + meat completer. I know I’m still relying on the meat completer’s company to be honest and test everything properly, but I just feel so much better about the transparency involved in it as well as sourcing meat myself.

FDA inspections uncover food safety issues at multiple Purina plants
investigation into current complaints ongoing. I'm not seeing a recall here. This is just an update as to what is going on.

Thanks for this information. It will be important to keep an eye on this. My cats like Fancy Feast by Purina. My understanding about Fancy Feast is that it has never been subject to a recall. I don’t like these huge conglomerates, generally, and worry about product quality.

Before anyone freaks out please read the first paragraph. These were done in 2023 before the current pet food scare. Most likely and hopefully the ones that had a few issues corrected the issues they had. This in no way relates to the pet food scare that happened early this year. The FDA has been investigating since January 2024. If there was any issues the FDA would have found them by now. Just please keep that in mind before freaking out.

If you have no issues with any Purina products you feed that is great. But if your pet is sick and you believe it was the food keep the food off to the side report it to Purina & FDA with the lot numbers on the bag or canned.

Before you give your cat/kittens raw cow or goat's milk you need to consider that the bird flu seems to have crossed over to cows and goats (only two cases so far for goats.) From what I've read pasteurization prevents the spread of bird flu through milk, there is nothing to do so in raw milk, beyond the dairy keeping birds away from the cows and goats, which is very hard to do. Measure the risk depending on where you get your raw milk and keep a close eye on things.

If you use for kittens and puppies - Food Safety Alert: Sammy’s Milk (Newport Beach, CA) has been asked by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide a warning against the use of its Goat Milk Toddler Formula as an infant formula because the FDA is concerned that the formula may not meet all FDA requirements for infant formula and may be unsafe and not provide sufficient nutrition when used as an infant formula.

Here is the latest information of what the FDA is doing about the pet food complaints --Purina, FB. It's hard to find anything, but if you have more information, please post it. The other companies mentioned in the complaints are listed.

Please note " 971 complaints submitted to FDA during the month of January 2024. This total does not include multiple complaints of bug infested pet food, or others that did not appear to match the symptoms of the current pet food crisis."

Honestly I’m not going to read that cause I don’t need to go back into a stressful worrisome state. Dr Judy Morgan who also started this hasn’t posted a new list since February. The two testings they did showed nothing was wrong with the food they sent in. They even started to go as far as saying it was pesticide issue and was looking for toxicologist or something cause the lab they used didn’t give the results they wanted. I don’t even know what the group has posted anymore. I don’t look at it anymore cause like I said I don’t need to go back into the state I was in. Of course Purina would be the highest reported cause Purina is in more homes than any other brand. So of course many are going to think it’s the cause. As for the bugs that is a storage issue whether from how it’s shipped or stored. My 2 boys(cats) & baby girl(dog) are thriving. Scooter does better on Purina than what I have given him before. Sadly some foods no matter what brand or type of food it is won’t agree with every pet. Example one cat & dog could thrive on raw food while another cat & dog get terribly sick on it. That’s why there is no one diet fits all cause there is no perfect diet.

Of course this is nothing negative towards anyone here. I appreciate this thread informing us. I just think if there was an issue the FDA would have found it by now. Although I can’t imagine how busy the FDA is now a days with all the food recalls there has been lately which is crazy how much there has been. The latest was ground hamburger I believe. But it’s crazy seeing the recall list lately.

Of course as always if you do suspect your pets illness is due to food report it to that company and FDA. Make sure you still have the cans & bag for lot numbers & experation date.
